Spring Has Sprung! (In My House at Least...)
It's been five days since I planted my basil seeds in hopes that they weren't duds and lo and behold, we have signs of life! The first signs of tiny little seedlings were visible today. I'll continue to monitor them and leave the grow light on for about 12-15 hours a day to keep them sprouting up. If you haven't lightly watered your soil, now is a good time to do it. The seedlings are thirsty and need to stay moist and hydrated, but don't drown them. I'll probably give them a tiny bit of plant food over the weekend to make sure the soil is supporting their growth.
I had a few seeds left over, so I spread them out on a paper towel, misted them with water, stuck them in a baggie, and put them under the grow light in case the planted ones were duds. Those also sprouted, so I will find those sprouts a home in a coffee cup in a day or two.
